The Premise

Living from the Center is a spiritual memoir. It is the record of Taheera’s path from childhood gifts she had no language for, through depression and initiation, through the clinical world and beyond it, into the work she was always meant to carry. It is not a methodology. It is the story underneath one.

The book arrives the same season the Practitioner Apprenticeship enrollment opens. For the reader who finishes it and recognizes something of her own path in these pages, the door into the training is already open.

Inside

What readers will find.

  • 01 A childhood that was never ordinary — spiritual sensitivity, ancestral presence, and what it means to carry a gift before you have language for it.
  • 02 The years before the path had a name — depression, the edge of not wanting to be here, and the single book that interrupted everything.
  • 03 The clinical world, the ceiling it creates, and what happens when a therapist realizes the system cannot hold the depth of the work she was built for.
  • 04 Initiation into ancestral healing, plant medicine, and shamanic practice — what it actually costs, what it requires of the body, and what it returns.
  • 05 The journey of an African American woman walking a path most of the world has no category for, and choosing herself fully anyway.
